September 18, 2019

The long-standing Lewes Artists Studio Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21. A group of 20 regionally known artists and artisans will display their work at 14 different locations.

This tour has been going on for many years and is free of charge. The studios are all within a 2 1/2-mile radius of downtown Lewes, making it easy to see multiple artists in a short time. Several of the artists on the tour will host one or more guest artists. The tour offers a unique opportunity to visit with numerous artists in their studios and see their work. There will be free raffles at each artist’s venue, ands drawing will be held at the end of the tour at each studio.

Returning from last year’s tour are Connie Ballato, Susan Bartley, Kathy Buschi, Jean Doran, David Scott Ennis, Joan Fabbri, Roy Fitzgerald, Bev Harrington, Dean Hoover, Ruth Ann Kaufman, Mary Louise Lauffer, Becki Mott-Lynn, Nina Mickelsen, Marilyn Nugent, Sarah Pavlik and Steve Rogers. Judy Demeno, Leslie McDonald, and Barbara Warden are back from previous years. New to the tour is Bonnie White. The diverse works include paintings, art quilts, mixed media, stained glass, pottery, fibers, textiles, jewelry and woodwork.

Patrons return each year to check out new works by some of their favorite artists/artisans, as well as meeting new ones. They enjoy talking with the artists, learning about their process and what inspires them in their creations. Making a personal connection with the creator of the art is a special and unique experience.

Brochures with artist locator maps are available at many locations, including local retail shops, galleries, the Lewes Public Library, and Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
