Lewes Beach Patrol enjoys successful season

September 13, 2022

I would like to thank the leaders and members of Lewes Beach Patrol for providing outstanding service this summer season. On the shortest of notice this last spring, the patrol was formed under the leadership of Capt. Strohm Edwards. He and Chief Mark Woodard led a group of talented, dedicated young lifeguards through a successful season.

By successful, I mean managing the day-to-day balancing act of keeping beachgoers safe while enforcing the rules and being welcoming, helpful and available. This positive interaction with the public is vital to keeping our beaches an attractive destination to locals and visitors alike.

All summer, I have heard the lifeguards say, “Ask any lifeguard in the chairs any questions or for help,” “Thank you for your cooperation,” and “Enjoy your day today, and let me know if you need any information.” This quiet, confident attitude reflects the City of Lewes in such a positive light.

I look forward to a great summer season in 2023 and well beyond.

Thank you for your leadership!
