Lewes in Bloom receives county and state commendations

December 13, 2022

Lewes in Bloom recently received commendations from Sussex County and the State of Delaware.

The county proclamation was for Lewes in Bloom’s participation in the 2022 America in Bloom competition. The city of Lewes was awarded the trophy for being the best city in its population category. This is the fourth time Lewes has won this America in Bloom award. Lewes also won the America in Bloom championship award in 2015 as well as the Communities in Bloom international award in 2019. Although Lewes in Bloom spearheaded these efforts, it took a team comprising other nonprofits, the city and residents to bring home the honors.

At the November Sussex County Council meeting, District 3 Councilman Mark Schaeffer presented the county tribute to Warren Golde, Lewes in Bloom founder, who accepted on behalf of all the Lewes in Bloom members.

The tribute from the state honored Lewes in Bloom’s 20th anniversary and noted all its accomplishments and contributions to the city of Lewes over the years.
