Lewes drawbridge reopens; overnight closures ahead

The Savannah Road drawbridge over the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal in Lewes reopened Feb. 13 after a several-week closure for repairs and general maintenance. 

Delaware Department of Transportation officials say overnight closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. will begin Tuesday, Feb. 18 and run through Sunday, Feb. 23 in order to finish the repairs. 

Motorists traveling eastbound on Savannah Road will use Kings Highway and Monroe Avenue to get to Freeman Highway, then left on Cape Henlopen Drive and to Savannah Road.

Motorists traveling westbound from Savannah Road will use Cape Henlopen Drive to Freeman Highway, then right onto Kings Highway and continue to Savannah Road.

Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
