Lewes Elementary Monster Mania contest unleashes students’ creativity
Lewes Elementary second-graders let their imaginations run wild during Monster Mania, an optional, creative, and spooky celebration of art and poetry. Students were invited to design their very own monsters, big or small, silly or scary, using 2D or 3D materials. Each monster included a creative name, like Spooky Spider or Gigantic Goblin, and a short poem showcasing the students’ writing skills through rhyme, alliteration or even haiku.
The monsters were proudly displayed in the school lobby. Teachers, administrators and staff judged them on Halloween, and the winners were announced before the day’s end. Congratulations go to each of the 12 students who were recognized for their creativity and hard work.
Teacher’s Favorite Award winners are Nathalie Roy, Shea Jones, Sophia Kollar, William Kuhfahl and Zariyah Shaikh. Principal’s Favorite Award recipients are Bella Nelson and Pippin Hay. Other award winners are Brighton Griffin - Best Description, Adrien Kluchnik - School Counselors Favorite, Andrew McManus - Most Creative, Reese Meiklejohn - Art Teacher’s Favorite, and Elise Tuske - Scariest Monster.
