Lewes librarian selected as Green Earth Book Awards judge
Environmental nonprofit The Nature Generation has announced the judges who will select the winners of the 2021 Green Earth Book Awards, which are given to books that best inspire young readers to appreciate and care for the environment.
The national award was established in 2005 and has honored hundreds of children’s and young adult books in these categories: Picture Book, Children’s Fiction, Children’s Nonfiction, and Children’s and Young Adult Fiction and Nonfiction. Each winning author and illustrator receives a monetary award and year-long national recognition. Winners will be announced on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22.
Jennifer Noonan, children’s librarian for Lewes Public Library, is one of the members selected for the judging panel. Judges represent environmental and educational organizations in private industry, associations and governmental natural resource agencies, as well as college professors and elementary school teachers. Noonan is active in the community; she serves on the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation board of directors and was on the Picture Book Selection Committee for the Blue Hen Book Awards, a Delaware kids' choice award, in 2019 and 2020.
