Local police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders came together with the Lewes community Aug. 7 for the annual National Night Out event in George H.P. Smith Park. The event featured music by the Savannah Band, free food and several interactive booths for children to learn about the work of the emergency personnel in the community. The event featured a K9 demonstration by officers and their dogs and ended with a bicycle raffle. Children could also learn about the rules of the road by riding through a bike rodeo course in the parking lot, sponsored by the Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee.
