Lewes Public Library thanks supporters

April 23, 2020

The Lewes Public Library has just wrapped up its exciting 31 Chances to Win fundraiser. The support of the library’s patrons, who bought 581 tickets, made for a successful event netting over $9,500 to help fund the library’s many free programs and services. A listing of the daily winners may be found on our website www.lewes.lib.de.us.

None of this would have been possible without the tremendous support shown by our contributing local businesses. Please join us in thanking and supporting the businesses and organizations that donated gift certificates:  Adel Computers, Agave Mexican Restaurant, Aquamarine, Baker Petroleum/ExxonMobil, The Beacon Motel, Best’s Ace Hardware, biblion used books & rare finds, Bling Salon & Spa, Coastal Concerts, The Counting House, Crooked Hammock, Dairy Queen of Lewes, Deanna’s, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Dogfish Head Inn, Edie Bee’s Confection Shop, Fins Hospitality Group, Floral Inspirations, Fort Miles Museum & Gift Shop, Friends of the Lewes Public Library, Grove & Evelyn, Half Full, Harvest Tide, Heirloom, Highway One Company Restaurants, Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant, Jungle Jim’s Water Park, Kids’ Ketch, Kindle, Lewes Chamber of Commerce, Lewes Gourmet, Misipillion River Brewing, The Movies At Midway, Nectar Cafe & Juice Bar, Nike Factory Store, Palate Bistro & Catering, PUPS of Lewes, PUZZLES, R & L Liquors, Revelation Craft Brewing Company, Shorebreak, SoDel Concepts Restaurants, The Station on Kings Café & Market, The Stepping Stone, Striper Bites, sweetFrog, Teller Wines, Twila Farrell, and The Vintage Underground.

The Lewes Public Library is an independent library and as such must raise over 50 percent of its annual operating funds every year.

Fundraisers, annual appeals, and endowment contributions all go toward keeping the doors open and offering the wonderful programs and services available to the Lewes community.

During these trying times, the library staff and board would like to thank everyone for their support. From the businesses that donated gift certificates to everyone who bought tickets, we appreciate each and every one of you, and are deeply grateful to be a part of such an amazing community. In turn, we will strive to continue providing the programs, workshops, and services that you have come to expect.

The library currently is closed in compliance with Gov. Carney’s stay-at-home order. We miss seeing each and every one of you, and want you to stay safe and stay healthy.

In the meantime, we hope you will take advantage of the many programs and services we are offering online. Please visit our website (lewes.lib.de.us) for a full listing of everything available for adult, teens, children and families.

Thank you to everyone for working with us to make this fundraiser a success. We look forward to seeing you again when we are able to reopen.
