January 29, 2023

Lewes and Rehoboth elementaries were recognized by Secretary of Education Mark Holodick Jan. 20 for their students’ growth and progress toward English language proficiency.

Lewes Elementary was named a Recognition School, Holodick said, and he presented to administrators an $8,000 award to go toward academic programming, a certificate and a banner to hang in the building.

Rehoboth Elementary was named a School of Continued Excellence, which is a school that has qualified as a Recognition School for the second consecutive year and is ineligible for the Recognition award. The school received a certificate and a banner.

“Congratulations to our multi-language learners, and the families and educators whose support helped them make the gains that have earned their schools this recognition,” Holodick said. “This is a celebration of their entire school communities.”
