Lewes resident presents info on chronic pain treatment

November 16, 2018

At the 2018 meeting of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Dr. Roger Coletti proposed a new diagnosis to better differentiate sources of chronic muscle spasm. Most neurologists treat chronic muscle spasm as caused by neurological conditions. Coletti proposed the diagnosis of acquired chronic muscle spasm and specified the distinctive findings that need to be present to make that diagnosis.

Most patients with chronic low back pain, for example, have acquired chronic muscle spasm as part if not all of the cause for their symptoms. Specific treatments for ACMS can be utilized when that diagnosis is made.

Coletti also shared a specific treatment he has developed for ACMS and trademarked as CMECD (Coletti Method Emg guided ChemoDenervation). A website offering information for physicians to learn and provide that procedure as an emerging medical treatment can be found at cmecd.info. The site also provides lay explanations, research data, prescribing information and references to prior work presented by Coletti and others. Coletti is a retired physician now living in the Lewes area.
