Lewes senior athletes and the Gazette shine at the 2025 National Senior Games

The 2025 National Senior Games were held in Des Moines, Iowa, featuring 25 sporting events ranging from archery to volleyball and drawing approximately 12,400 athletes. Three local competitors from Lewes are pictured on the podium with racquetball medals from (l-r): Ingrid Callmann, who earned two silvers and a gold; Barbara Fischetti, who won a silver and a bronze; and Douglas Winkelmann, who captured a bronze. Barbara’s softball team, the Noreasters, also claimed gold. As Warren Blaney, founder of the Senior Games, once said, “Instead of looking back as they get older, Senior Olympians think about tomorrow. They think, ‘I’ll beat that guy next year.’”
