Lewes tulip dig set April 21

April 11, 2023

Lewes in Bloom announced its annual tulip dig will start at 8 a.m., Friday, April 21, rain or shine. Participants should bring gloves, trowels and bags.

All those lovely blooms everyone has enjoyed these last several weeks need to be dug up to prepare for planting annuals.

To ensure everyone has an opportunity to take some tulips home, organizers respectfully request that no one disturb the bulbs prior to 8 a.m. After that, it is first come, first dig. In most areas, the tulips are dug within minutes, so participants don’t want to be late. No other plants or flowers are to be removed besides tulips.

Lewes in Bloom volunteers will be on hand at the following locations to answer any questions: Zwaanendael Park, Mary Vessels Park, 1812 Park, Otis Smith Park, Gateway Garden, Lewes Post Office, Margaret H. Rollins Community Center, Lewes Public Library, Stango Park and Freeman Highway lighthouse garden.
