Lincoln woman struck by car in downtown Milton

A 65-year-old Lincoln woman was struck by a car in downtown Milton June 10, and was flown to Christiana Hospital with injuries to her leg and abdomen.

Milton police said 36-year-old Katie Hynson of Milton was driving her 2006 Mercedes at an unreasonable speed near the intersection of Front Street and Chestnut Street. Police said Hynson failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the Lincoln woman, who was walking in the crosswalk. The woman was airlifted to the hospital via helicopter. 

Hynson was arrested and charged with third-offense DUI and first-degree vehicular assault, both felonies, along with reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, possession of drug paraphernalia, inattentive driving, driving a vehicle at unsafe speed and failure to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, all misdemeanors. 

Hynson was incarcerated at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle in lieu of $4,505 secured bond pending a preliminary hearing.
