Linda Ritter services revised

Linda A. Ritter, 68 of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, after a courageous four year battle against ovarian cancer.  She was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Lock Haven, Pa., daughter of the late Earl Franklin and Marion (Garris) Ritter.

Mrs. Ritter graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1960 and immediately moved to Lewes to attend Beebe School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1963.  She spent 44 years working as a registered nurse for various agencies including 30 years at Beebe Medical Center in the Women’s Health Division, Labor and Delivery, retiring in 2005.  Mrs. Ritter enjoyed gardening, yoga, the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Ritter (2003).  She is survived by her daughter, Susan L. Ritter of Virginia Beach, Va.; her son Bruce F. Ritter of Lewes; four grandchildren; three brothers: Richard Ritter of Lewisburg, Pa., Jack Ritter of Williamsport, Pa. and J. Garris Ritter of Lewes; and many extended family members and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at Groome United Methodist Church, Dewey Avenue and Savannah Road, Lewes, with the Rev. William Hopkins officiating.  Immediately following services a reception and visitation with the family will be held at the church hall.  Interment will be private at St. George's Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
