Little thought goes into common-sense planning

July 18, 2025

The following is a response to the letter sent in by Carol Stutts on Sussex County being a bustling metropolis.

Carol, you aren't wrong. Each year, I come to Lewes to visit my parents. Each year, another farm gone, another wooded area gone, and more huge houses are present along what used to be nice two-lane roads.

It's hardly the scene I remember from 20 or 30 years ago when I'd leave the D.C. suburbs and drive to the beach.

A lot of thought has gone into how to make some real estate money, and very little thought has gone into common-sense planning.
