Teachers from the Little Vikings Preschool 2-year-olds program recently welcomed families from across the Cape Henlopen School District for a community playgroup held at the Five Points Playground in Lewes.
With additional events scheduled one Monday a month throughout the year, the gathering created an opportunity for engagement where families could connect, play and build relationships with teachers and one another. Children were able to explore the playground, join in group games and enjoy quality time spent outdoors.
The playgroups support Little Vikings’ ongoing commitment to fostering strong home-to-school partnerships and promoting early social connections that help young learners thrive.
“These gatherings give families a chance to feel connected and supported, while the kids build confidence through play and interaction,” said Jennifer O’Connell, Little Vikings teacher and coordinator of the 2-year old playgroups. “It’s a wonderful way to strengthen the sense of community that makes our district so special.”
A Viking Village Playgroup for children ages 3-5 who reside in the Cape district takes place at local public libraries one Thursday a month.
