Local artist creates replica version of Boardwalk Plaza Hotel
Local artist Timothy Credle celebrated the finishing of his Boardwalk Plaza Hotel replica with an unveiling at the hotel June 12. He said the project was a year in the making and estimated it took him 600 hours to complete.
Credle’s creation is made primarily from intricately cut paper that’s been glued together. This isn’t his first replica; but it is the largest. “I’m on to the Great Wall of China next,” he joked.
Credle said Boardwalk Plaza Hotel owner Ruth Ann Zerby convinced him to make the replica.
Zerby was in attendance at the event. She said she loved it, but then pointed to towels hanging off the balconies of the rooms. “This is the only time you’re going to see towels hanging like this, because we don’t allow that,” she said laughing.
Karen Mest, hotel operations manager, said the replica will be on display, beginning mid-July, in Victoria’s Restaurant, once a shelf is built for it.
