Local artist featured in Xanadu Art Gallery catalog

June 16, 2023

Lewes retiree Michele Polding is a featured artist in the May/June 2023 Xanadu Art Gallery Catalog at art.xanadugallery.com. Xanadu Gallery is a resource for collectors, designers, builders and corporations seeking to procure high-quality art.

A northern New Jersey native, Polding was drawn to art at an early age, taking private lessons in oil painting. She became proficient at painting portraits and landscapes, selling them to friends and co-workers.

Her 25-year career working as a manager for a major telecommunications company afforded her little time to continue her studies.

When she retired and moved to the Cape Region eight years years ago, Polding started teaching art and craft classes in her community, inspiring her to begin painting again with acrylics. She has since led 60 classes attended by more than 350 aspiring artists. A member of the Rehoboth Art League, she has sold several pieces of art and has been accepted as an exhibitor in juried shows such as the St. Peter’s Art Show.

Polding is fascinated by the symmetry and aesthetics of mixed-media art, which inspires and offers hope. Her vision is to use her art to support charitable projects to aid the local community. Polding found her niche with horseshoe crabs, the Delaware state marine animal. Several Lewes homes are adorned with these unique art pieces.
