Local artist Rosemary Connelly is planning to take a group of artists to Provence, France, to walk in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne.
French guide Mathieu Brousses of Provence Art Experience will pick up everyone up at the Marseille airport Friday, May 24, and return them Sunday, June 2.
Artists will stay together in a quiet, comfortable guest house with shared meals prepared by a French chef. Daily trips to iconic locations are planned. Artists will draw, paint and record observations in travel-sized watercolor journals using pen, ink and watercolors. Connelly will offer lessons, demonstrations and guidance in creating travel journals, a record of the experiences that is sure to become a treasured souvenir.
In this all-inclusive art experience, participants will visit old villages and historic towns, and revel in irises, roses, poppies, vineyards, castles and much more around one of the most beautiful regions of Provence. Some drawing experience is necessary to truly enjoy this sketching holiday.
In 2023, Connelly led a group of artists for a similar outing in Umbria. Participants said it was a trip of a lifetime and an awakening experience in loving to draw and having the confidence to do it.
