Local couple celebrates 70 years of marriage

The Rev. George H. Edwards and Ardeth (Williams) Edwards of Milton celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Oct. 20.

They were married Oct. 20, 1955, in Salisbury, Md. 

To this union they had three children: Georgia Perry, George Edwards Jr. (deceased) and Lisa Edwards. They have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

Rev. Edwards helped found Friendship Baptist Church in Lewes. He retired in December 2024 and is now pastor emeritus. 

He is retired from Kraft-General Foods in Dover. Ardeth Edwards is retired from her job as a driver for KSI. 

Twenty years ago, the couple conducted a vow renewal for their 50th wedding anniversary, and the bride's father was present to walk her down the aisle.
