Local DAR chapter publishes 'Lewes Delaware, The First Town in the First State'
The Col. David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has published the third edition of its popular book, “Lewes Delaware, The First Town in the First State.”
The new version features the history of Lewes from its earliest days, biographies of notable citizens through the years, descriptions of early industries, including those dependent on the nearby Delaware Bay, plus folklore, tall tales and reminiscences of longtime residents.
A self-guided walking tour is included, with color photographs of a number of historic homes and landmarks.
“Lewes Delaware, The First Town in the First State” is available in Lewes at Biblion Books, Sand N Stones and the Lewes Historical Society. It can also be purchased from the Col. Hall Chapter of the National Society of the American Revolution.
