Local McDonald's president Meoli meets with Del Tech scholarship recipients

December 17, 2017

Local McDonald's Restaurants of Eastern Shore owner/operator and Eastern Shore Co-op President Mike Meoli met recently with Delaware Technical Community College students and scholarship recipients at the Owens Campus in Georgetown. Meoli represents the McDonald's Restaurants of Eastern Shore Scholarship Program for community college students, which awarded scholarships to community colleges on the Eastern Shore totaling more than $10,000 in 2017. In all, eight $500 scholarships were awarded to Delaware Tech students this semester. During the visit, students shared their life stories and their academic goals and dreams.

"Education lays the foundation for building a strong community and workforce," Meoli said. "Our hope is that these scholarships will allow students, who might not have otherwise had the opportunity, to get the education they so willingly deserve. It is very rewarding to meet with these scholarship recipients and know that we are helping make their academic dreams a reality."

Local McDonald's owner/operators believe in the importance of giving back to the communities in which their restaurants operate. The scholarship program is open to non-traditional community college students who have demonstrated a commitment to furthering their education by exhibiting scholastic achievement and ongoing community service. This scholarship is intended to help non-traditional students who are returning to college to complete a degree, or those who are attending college for the first time, years after graduating high school.
