Pianist JJ Ohri of Lewes performed a holiday recital Dec. 19 at The Lodge at Historic Lewes, entertaining residents and staff with a varied selection of songs.
His set included traditional hymns such as, “What Child is This,” “Away in a Manger,” “Silent Night” and “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” Among the secular songs, “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and a jaunty rendition of “Feliz Navidad” brought smiles to many faces. JJ also performed the same tunes a week earlier at The Moorings.
His next performance was Dec. 21 at Magnolia Gardens, a senior center/assisted living facility in New Jersey, where a special guest was his 92-year-old “Nana” Jean Ward, a close family friend, almost like a grandmother. JJ’s family members were excited to see her reaction as she heard her dearest 12-year-old play her favorite carols.
