Local school districts offering grab-n-go lunches

Restaurants, community partners also doing their part in feeding needy

Cape Henlopen School District

Cape Henlopen School District will provide breakfast and lunch for children 18 and under.

There are two options available. One option is an in-person pickup at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School, 402 Mulberry St., Milton. The child must be present at the time of pickup.

The second option is community deliveries, which will take place Monday through Friday.
- Bus 1 will be at Peddlers Village, off Route 24 near Love Creek, at 10:45 a.m.; Love Creek Park at 11:05 a.m.; Jefferson Apartments at 11:40 a.m.; and Shields Elementary, 910 Shields Ave., Lewes, at noon.
- Bus 2 will be at Sea Air, 19753 Sea Air Ave., Rehoboth, at 10:45 a.m.; at Burton Village at 11:10 a.m.; and at East Atlantic Apartments at 11:35 a.m.
- Bus 3 will be at Whispering Pines community off Route at Nassau from 10:45 to 11:07 a.m.; at Savannah West Apartments from 11:10 to 11:19 a.m.; at Midway Movies on Route 1 from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.; and at Savannah East Apartments from 11:45 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
- Bus 4 will be at Dollar General on Route 9 near Cool Spring at 11 a.m.; and at Cool Spring Telamon at 11:35 a.m..
- Bus 5 will be at Kings Market near Cedar Creek from 10:35 to 11:10 a.m.; at Hidden Hills from 11:11 to 11:35 a.m.; and at Slaughter Neck Community Center from 11:45 to 11:56 a.m.

Community partner locations

In addition to the school district, there are a number of community partners helping. 
- West Side New Beginnings, 19801 Norwood St., Rehoboth Beach, will be serving children only from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Faith United Methodist Church, 19940 Church St., Rehoboth Beach, will be serving children and families from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays
- Food Bank of Delaware is providing a drive-thru service at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, beginning at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 18 (one day only)

Restaurants helping the community

Despite great uncertainty on their end, there is a handful of restaurants that are also pitching in to help the needy.
- Nicola Pizza, 8 N. First St., is offering children under the age of 10 a free lunch at the original location on First Street in Rehoboth. The child must be present to order, and may choose between a slice of cheese pizza, applesauce and milk, or a small spaghetti with meatball and milk
- Baked Coffee Bar, 2000 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach, is offering free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support those who are out of work. Owners said the offer stands for as long as possible.

Indian River School District

Indian River School District’s off-site meal service will be at the following locations and times:

- Frankford Park parking lot, corner of Clayton Ave. and Hickory St., Frankford, 10:45-11:15 a.m.
- Old Dagsboro Fire Hall, 31818 Waples St., Dagsboro, 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Gumboro Community Center, 36849 Millsboro Hwy., Millsboro, 12:20-12:50 p.m.
- Selbyville Police Station, 1 Church St., Selbyville, 10:45-11:15 a.m.
- Fenwick Island Baptist Church, 36806 Lighthouse Rd., Selbyville, 11:45 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.
- Millsboro Middle School bus parking lot, 302 East State St., Millsboro, 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Georgetown Elementary School front entrance, 301-A West Market St., Georgetown, 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

- Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. – Station 1, 32628 Oak Orchard Rd., Millsboro, 10:45-11:30 a.m.
- Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. – Station 2, 25375 Banks Rd., Millsboro, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
