Local students excel at universities

Local student earns 4.0 GPA at Indiana U

Indiana University of Pennsylvania announced Lindsey Swontek of Rehoboth Beach was among the students honored at graduation for achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout their university studies. An early childhood education and special education major, Lindsey is the daughter of Karen and Bill Swontek, and a 2019 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. Swontek was a member of the IUP women’s soccer team from 2019 to 2022.

Local students named to Southern New Hampshire president’s list

Southern New Hampshire University announced Danielle David of Milton and Katheryn Meixner of Millsboro were named to its president’s list.  The honor goes to students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 for the semester.

Honor society inducts locals at University of Delaware

University of Delaware students Benjamin Marsaly and Renee Juliano, both of Lewes, recently were initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Hornick named to Monmouth dean’s list

Monmouth University recently announced that Jessica Hornick was named to its spring 2023 dean’s list for excellent academic achievement. She is the granddaughter of Pat and Gary Casadei of Millsboro, daughter of Tara and Paul Hornick of Laurel Springs, N.J. 

Rehoboth student presents original work at Lebanon Valley 

Benjamin Weathersby of Rehoboth Beach presented creative work at Lebanon Valley College's annual inquiry symposium. A graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Weathersby presented LaceLock. He is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in digital communications.
