Lunch group supports First State Community Action Agency

April 2, 2026

Lunch With a Purpose Coastal Delaware members gathered March 4 at Signatures at Bayside to support First State Community Action Agency’s after-school program.

Bernice Edwards, First State executive director, and Dell Hudson, lead youth program manager, explained the program benefits for children who are at risk. In a safe, engaging environment that inspires learning, youngsters take part in life enrichment activities and lessons that promote academic success, personal growth, healthy social development and lifelong learning. The goal is to reduce the negative effects poverty can have on low-income individuals at every stage of their lives.

The event raised $9,647 in cash and in-kind donations, along with 908 pounds of nonperishable items collected for Food Bank of Delaware.
