Lunch with a Purpose supports Ronald McDonald House

May 31, 2023

To raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 200 supporters gathered May 10 for the Lunch With a Purpose event at the Clubhouse at Baywood Greens.

Cheryl Mitchell, Lunch With a Purpose/Coastal Delaware director, gave opening remarks and introduced Dawn Brooks, special events manager at The Ronald McDonald House. Brooks said the house opened in Delaware in 1991 with just 17 rooms for families with children receiving care at nearby hospitals. With expansions in 1999 and 2005, the house now has 50 guest rooms and operates at capacity.

The Ronald McDonald House serves all of Delaware, with up to 35% of guests coming from Sussex and Kent counties. For more information, go to rmhde.org.

The luncheon raised $8,000 in donations and $2,100 in non-cash donations.

Lunch With a Purpose is taking a summer break and will resume Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Clubhouse at Baywood Greens, to benefit I Support the Girls-Delaware.
