Lynn Ivy Hennessey, kindhearted spirit

September 27, 2022

Lynn Ivy Hennessey, 69, of Lewes, passed away exactly four years to the day after her dear mother, Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022.  She was born Nov. 19, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pa., the only child of the late Joseph Francis Hennessey and Verna Lorraine (Garris) Hennessey.

Lynn grew up in Delaware County. She attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., and obtained a bachelor's degree in veterinary science. Lynn had many varied interests and hobbies. She loved yard sales, going to different flea markets, and shuffle bowl, and was in the league for over 20 years. Lynn was also a diehard Eagles fan and always looked forward to cheering up her favorite team during games. A kindhearted spirit, with a charitable nature, she loved all animals and seeking shelter for them was something she did often. Lynn was a proud member of the Elks Lodge 2540 and American Legion Post 17. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with those she held most dear. Lynn was a loving and devoted spouse, aunt, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Lynn is survived by the love of her life and companion for the past 35 years, Kathryn Teresa Myer, whom she married July 13, 2014; her sister-in-law, Carol Fleming (Charles); her mother-in-law, Terry Myer; her nephews: Curtis and Sonny Fleming; her great-nieces and -nephews; her cousins: Stan Hitchens (Sue) and Susan Harvey; her second cousins; and her beloved rescue dog, Lucy.
