In recognition of his regular contributions to Delaware Beach Life magazine, Lewes writer Bill Newcott has been recognized as one of two 2020 Writers of the Year by the International Association of Regional Magazines.
Besides his monthly Treasure Hunting column, Newcott also writes frequent feature articles for the magazine.
In naming him Writer of the Year for magazines with circulation of 35,000 or less, the judges said, “His stories have a smooth rhythm that makes them easy to read, and his first-person perspectives build rapport with readers.”
For 2020, the association also recognized Newcott with silver awards for his column, which focuses on quirky, often little-known coastal Delaware people and places, and for his profile of area boat builders.
Newcott also won 2020 awards from the National Federation of Press Women and the Delaware Press Association for his Delaware Beach Life magazine columns and feature stories.
A four-time Mature Media Awards winner for his websites MoviesForTheRestOfUs.com and BeThereInAMinuteWithBillNewcott.com, he has lived near Lewes since 2012.
Newcott is also a film critic and podcast host for the Saturday Evening Post and a regular contributor to other magazines including National Geographic.
