Malfunction Junction went from bad to a nightmare

June 18, 2024

The following letter was sent to Sen. Russ Huxtable with a copy provided to the Cape Gazette for publication.

I was coming back from errands about 10:35 a.m., June 6, going home from Plantation Road to either Route 9 or Beaver Dam Road, depending on the ease of traffic. Ease ... haha, probably only after midnight and 6 a.m.

The roundabout was blocked in most directions. I literally had to drive on the roundabout cement to be able to get to Beaver Dam Road; the traffic lights are blocking movement in all directions. Signage doesn't seem to be working either.

The return of the Route 9 stoplight has traffic building from Nassau and parts farther back.

Folks were doing U-turns to go toward Lowe's to avoid this backup.

Trust me, I will be avoiding this area at all costs.

Please get traffic engineers to sit here and monitor this fiasco.
