Man charged following Oak Orchard-area drug bust
A Millsboro man faces charges following a drug bust Oct. 17 at his home near Oak Orchard.
Detectives with the Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit had been investigating a home in the 32000 block of South Captains Way for several months, police said, and observed drug dealing at the home.
Police executed a search warrant at the residence and found 22.9 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, drug-packaging materials, 21 knives defined as deadly weapons and four pairs of brass knuckles.
Police arrested John Bender, 58, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing deadly weapons. He was taken to Troop 4 where he was charged with 25 counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to distribute controlled substance tier 2 quantity, possession of controlled substance tier 2 quantity, 24 counts possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $102,200 cash bond.
