Margie Lewis, Gumboro native

Margie Lewis, 103 years old, of Millsboro passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the Delaware Hospice Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Gumboro to the late John Harvey Short and Manie Oliphant Short Nov. 19, 1916.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands Norman Lowe and Jesse Lewis; a son, Preston Lowe; a granddaughter Deborah Lowe; a grandson Tommy Lowe; four brothers; and two sisters.  

Margie is survived  by her daughter, Doris Simpler; daughter-in-law Margaret Lowe; five granddaughters, Donna Flood (Chuck), Patricia Brittingham (John Young), Gail Dorman (Charlie), Kathy Lowe and Tammy Thompson (Joe); one grandson Norman Banks; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; as well as her church family.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak a private service will be held at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with interment following in the Millsboro Cemetery.  Pastor Dennis Bradord will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Margie’s memory to Blackwater Fellowship Church, PO Box 549, Frankford, DE 19945, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
