Maria Cristina Mariacoll Tayag, retired dentist

June 17, 2020

Dr. Maria Cristina Mariacoll Tayag, 80, of Millsboro passed away suddenly at home Monday, June 15, 2020. She was born May 11, 1940, to the late Reynaldo and Irene Mariacoll in Manila, Phillipines and resided in Tiaong, Quezon until she moved to the United States in 1969.

She was married to Edilberto Day Tayag, her beloved husband, who preceded her in 2009.  Together they raised one daughter: Teena. Cristina was a dentist for 33 years and treated over 106,000 children. She retired in 2004 from the State of Delaware. She loved to travel, was an avid gardener who loved flowers, and enjoyed cooking.  She also loved shopping.  Occasionally, she visited “the slots.”  But most of all, she was devoted to her family, and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Michael’s/Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter whom she loved very much, Teena Milligan, and her husband Sean of Gumboro; and a brother: George V. Mariacoll of Millsboro.  She also has two adored grandchildren whom she loved very much: Seth Cooper Milligan and Marissa Mariacoll Milligan.

A time of viewing and visitation will be held at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, from 9 till 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20.  This will be followed by a service at 11 a.m., officiated by Deacon Marty Barrett for family only.  The service can also be joined via Zoom.  Social distancing will be practiced with compliance with the guidelines of the Division of Public Health due to the Governor’s State of Emergency and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Interment follows in Woodlawn Cemetery, Millsboro.  Flowers are welcomed.
