The marina at Indian River Inlet in mid-1950s

February 21, 2018

This picture postcard from the mid-1950s shows the marina on the north side of Indian River Inlet. Route 1, now known as Coastal Highway, was known at that time as Highway 14, an extension of one of the main east-west routes across Sussex County. Most notable in this photo are the style and color of the automobiles at the marina, and the style of the fishing boats that went offshore for a wide variety of large and small fish.
