Meals on Wheels keeps rolling in Lewes-Rehoboth area

March 27, 2020

Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth continues to deliver 200 to 250 meals each weekday, but now with no interaction with clients. Meals are packaged in plastic and hung on door knobs. Each weekday, a team of volunteers turns out to load meals prepared and cooked by staff at Fish On in Lewes.

Director Kathy Keuski said if restrictions increase, volunteers will deliver 10 days of shelf-stable meals in case volunteers are unable to get to clients. “We'll keep delivering as long as we can, and our clients will have emergency meals if needed,” she said.

Board president Ann Bailey said some of the older volunteer drivers stopped making deliveries. “But we’ve been blessed, and other volunteers have stepped up,” she said.

She said much-needed monetary donations have been coming in as well. Two of the organizations upcoming fundraisers have been postponed. For more information, or to make a donation, go to mealsonwheels-lr.org or call 302-645-7449.
