Melody Joy Foundation donates to Cancer Support Community

September 8, 2019

Founders and board members of the Melody Joy Foundation recently donated $5,000 to the Cancer Support Community Delaware. The donation was made from proceeds of the foundation’s Step Up for Melody, Dress in your Best Whites event May 24.

Melody Booker Wilkins was an inspiration to everyone she met. Her positivity, energy, kind heart, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a “one of a kind.” Even on her sickest days, she continued to smile, focused on the good, and wanted to be a light to others.

Founded shortly after the 2017 loss of Wilkins, the Melody Joy Foundation comprises her close friends and family who meet regularly to discuss, plan and execute deeds of good for the community she lived in.

This year, the Melody Joy Foundation board selected Cancer Support Community Delaware as the beneficiary. The statewide nonprofit’s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. Its members are adults, teens and children with cancer, and their family members and caregivers. As all CSCDE services are provided free of charge, the nonprofit must rely on the generosity of government, foundations, corporations and individuals to continue its programs.
