Mental Health Alternatives invites families to Oct. 20 event

October 4, 2022

Mental Health Alternatives Inc. recently hosted a event supporting local teens by sharing experiences and ways to help them manage stress and anxiety. MHA co-founders Elizabeth Sanchez, Amy Casas and Diane Winiarczyk partnered with Megan Honysett at HealTree in Lewes for the Tarot for Teens event.

Honysett introduced tarot and astrology to the teens to give them a basic understanding of how these practices can bring a sense of self-awareness, clarity and peace during unsettling times. She also shared how to engage responsibly with a tarot deck and laid out the fundamental elements and values of a therapeutic, non-predictive tarot practice.

MHA co-founders rounded out the evening with discussions about feelings, mindfulness and nutrition. HealTree provided a safe and accepting space to allow for conversations and connections.

Mental Health Alternatives Inc. will be opening up its next event to parents, guardians, families and children of all ages. MHA’s Vibe Up to Thrive Up event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Lewes Public Library. Attendees will explore and experience quieting the mind with mindfulness, retraining the brain with positive self-talk, healing the body with nutrition, releasing stress with movement and more. The event is free, but registration is required at mentalhealthalternatives.org/events.
