Mental health practitioners Elizabeth McCaffrey, PhD, psychologist, and Amber Veet, LCSW, social worker, are relocating their therapy practices to 114 Second St. in Lewes.
McCaffrey works with individuals and couples who may be experiencing anxiety, depression or stress related to difficult life events or transitions. This could include any event that alters a person’s life including loss, trauma, health issues, retirement, divorce or marriage. Her primary orientation is psychodynamic, insight-focused therapy, but McCaffrey is experienced in various therapeutic applications. She values each person as a unique individual and works with them to understand their inner dialog.
McCaffrey holds a doctorate in applied psychology from New York University, and is licensed in Delaware and New York. She is a member of the Delaware Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. She has more than 30 years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. She has been practicing in Delaware for eight years.
Veet has been practicing in Lewes for five years, and will now be practicing under the name Enlightened Therapeutic Services. She works with adolescents over the age of 10, as well as adults experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression and PTSD.
Veet’s work includes the use of somatic techniques that focus as much on body sensations and the nervous system as emotions and thoughts. She blends a number of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive, mindfulness, sand tray and somatically based techniques. Veet believes that long-lasting healing is possible for everyone. She works to shift the individual’s attention to the dysregulation in their nervous system as a result of past overwhelming or underwhelming experiences. Veet accepts most insurance and is currently accepting new clients for summer 2019.
