Midway Lions host annual Snow Bowl for Sussex Consortium

December 19, 2018

Each year, Sussex Consortium students celebrate the approaching holidays with a variety of activities. One of the most popular events is the annual Snow Bowl hosted since 2002 by Midway Lions Club at Milford Bowling Lanes.

“We are so grateful to be able to work with Midway Lions Club on a variety of events,” said Vivian Bush, Sussex Consortium principal. “The students especially look forward to the Snow Bowl, because they are able to spend time with peers that they don’t always see every day.”

Milford Bowling Lanes donates the use of the lanes, and the students and staff are divided up by age group to bowl for about four hours. The Lions provide food and beverages.

“This is a day that all of our students look forward to each year,” said Patrick Zmuda, a Sussex Consortium physical education teacher. “They can spend time with classmates and enjoy some friendly competition with each other!”

Students arrived at Milford Bowling around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7, and bowled until about 1:30 p.m.

“It’s a really fun day for all of our students,” said Bush. “Between the Lions Club and Milford Bowling, all the necessities for the day are provided, and the students made sure to bring the fun with them!”
