After 17 years as executive director with the Lewes Historical Society, Mike DiPaolo is moving on. On March 20, he announced he will be leaving for the Delaware Community Foundation where he will serve as vice president for southern Delaware.

DiPaolo said he looks forward to his new role with DCF, and he thanks the society for his years of service there. “I loved it. I had a great time and got to meet so many interesting people, go to interesting places and learn a fascinating history of the town. I was so lucky to share with people,” he said. “I'm very proud of everything I was able to do at the historical society.”

Of note, DiPaolo said, were Lewes's 375th anniversary celebration, and the recent openings of the Lewes History Museum and the Children's Discovery Center. “Those were a wonderful capstone and a wonderful springboard for the society for the future,” he said.

The Lewes resident said he will continue to live in Lewes, and continue learning about Lewes history. “All the knowledge in my head isn't going anywhere,” he said.

The society's Board of Trustees said, “The board thanks Michael for his many years of service to the Society and wishes him success in his future endeavors.”
