June 5, 2023

Mill Pond Garden will celebrate hydrangeas, native honeysuckles and more when it opens to visitors from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, June 11.

In bloom will be scores of all types of hydrangeas, various fragrant flowering shrubs, waterlilies, giant Japanese iris, lilies, many species of salvias, cuphea, roses, hibiscus, honeysuckles including the extremely rare native Kintzley’s Ghost, and the red-stemmed and -leaved lonicera ciliosa native to the West Coast, both loved by hummingbirds. Other perennials and annuals may be in flower. The recently installed epiphyte garden of plants that grow in trees is a spellbinding creation of orchids, bromeliades, tillandsias, Spanish moss, ferns and flowering cactus.

Tickets, available at millpondgarden.com, are $15 to admit a vehicle with up to six visitors.
