Nanticoke Association blesses Indian River
May 5, 2016

Local and state officials and representatives with the Nanticoke Indian Association gathered at Cupola Park April 22 for Millsboro's first Earth Day celebration.

The event included a traditional and native blessing of the Indian River, storytelling and input from elected officials regarding pollution and the need to preserve and protect natural resources.

"It's our legacy, but it's also our responsibility," said state Rep. Ruth Briggs-King, R-Georgetown, who grew up in a farming family. "I believe with awareness comes buy-in, and with buy-in comes commitment."
