Milton chamber director steps down

No timetable on finding new head
August 28, 2019

After six months on the job, the executive director of the Milton Chamber of Commerce has stepped down.

Dianne Pearce, who took over as executive director in March, said she was stepping down to focus more on her publishing business, Devil’s Party Press. She said the imprint will have six titles in 2019, six more in 2020 plus two anthologies, in addition to manuscripts for 2021.

“Toward the end of July I realized there weren't enough hours in the day to focus on both my role as publisher and my role as chamber executive director,” Pearce said.

A resident of Milton, Pearce came to the chamber having taught at various colleges over the last 25 years, including University of Delaware, Santa Ana College, West Chester University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Delaware Technical Community College.

Among her notable projects in her time with the chamber, Pearce helped complete a website redesign and rebranding, with a new logo meant to pay tribute to Milton’s past as a shipbuilding town.

And now,” she said. “I need to focus on my own business. I wish the future executive director well.”

Chamber board member Marie Mayor said the chamber has not formed a personnel committee yet, and the next steps on finding a new director have not been determined.
