Milton Elementary classes recognize veterans’ service and sacrifice

Milton Elementary students and staff recognized Veterans Day with a number of meaningful learning activities to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the nation’s military members.

Rather than hosting a single assembly, classes took part in their own tributes, allowing students to engage with the day’s significance in age-appropriate and personalized ways.

Some students read about military service and created posters as part of the Delaware Elks Lodge poster contest. Other classes invited veteran family members to share their experiences, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and learn directly from those who have served.

Teachers emphasized gratitude and appreciation throughout the week, helping students understand the courage and commitment it takes to serve. The classroom lessons not only honored veterans but also encouraged students to reflect on the values of citizenship, service and community.
