Milton Elementary students gather for first Buddy Classroom sessions

Milton Elementary School students from some of the second- and fifth-grade classrooms came together Sept. 24, for the first Buddy Classroom event of the school year. Buddy Classrooms pair younger and older students to build friendships, strengthen learning and share special activities throughout the year.

During this kickoff event, students were introduced to and sat with buddies who were in their same house group. Together they peeled and chopped apples in the morning, then reunited in the afternoon to enjoy the homemade applesauce they prepared.

Throughout the year, buddy classes across all grade levels at Milton Elementary will continue meeting to read, share writing and engage in seasonal projects. The applesauce activity was a sweet start to a year filled with connection, collaboration and community.
