Milton Garden Club auctioning original art through May 28
The Milton Garden Club is conducting a silent auction for an original pastel by Milton Arts Guild artist Liz Micelli through 3 p.m., Saturday, May 28.
Now on display at Irish Eyes Restaurant in Milton, the framed and matted 23-by-30-inch "Afternoon Bliss" pastel is valued at $300. Bidding begins at $150. To place a bid, contact Garden Club Vice President Jan Daily at dailyvivigirl@gmail.com or 212-582-1809.
Micelli discovered art forms as a young adult. Her first works were sculptures using found objects and turning them inside out. She later discovered the world of digital photography, and she now enjoys outdoor scenes finding the beauty in nature.
In 2009, Micelli started painting with watercolor. After moving to Milton, she discovered acrylic and pastels. For the past few years, Micelli has been a student of all mediums to find her niche. She now prefers to paint in watercolor and do larger pieces in pastel.
Bids will also be taken at the garden club booth in front of the Milton Historical Society during the Horseshoe Crab Festival May 28.
Proceeds from the sale will help the Milton Garden Club, a 501c3 nonprofit, volunteer-run organization, fulfill its mission to beautify Milton through flowers.
