Milton Garden Club to sell fresh greens at Holly Fest Dec. 10

December 4, 2022

The Milton Garden Club Holly Fest and Bundle Sale will be part of the Milton Holly Festival activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. The club table will be set up in front of the Milton Historical Society, 210 Union St. Shoppers can purchase bundles of mixed greens for $8 each, as well as live arrangements, centerpieces, mailbox covers, mixed-greens wreaths and patio/porch pots. This is the garden club’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Preparation starts three weeks before the sale, with members collecting a variety of fresh greens including boxwood, magnolia leaves, pine, cypress, arborvitae and holly. Homeowners throughout Milton and Sussex County generously allow members to gather the greens from their properties. At an all-day workshop held at Grace Church, more than 30 members and friends create the lovely holiday decorations by hand.

Club members will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets throughout the day at $1 each or six for $5. Tickets for this raffle have been on sale since the Horseshoe Crab Festival in May, and the drawing is set for 2 p.m., when a lucky winner will receive a nice boost to their holiday budget. There will also be a free Hope in Bloom door prize drawing at 2 p.m., and the winner will receive a handmade patio/porch pot and large Christmas swag.

The Milton Garden Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Funds raised are used to purchase plants and flowers to beautify Milton and also to provide scholarships to local students pursuing a degree in horticulture or agriculture.
