Milton house set to be moved March 24

March 23, 2025

A house on Route 16 in Milton is set to hit the road Monday, March 24, as it will be moved to a new location.

The house had been located at the corner of Route 16 and Union Street Extended but will be moved down the street across from the Milton Post Office. The move is expected to happen in the early morning hours.

Milton Project Coordinator Tom Quass said the house is currently on land that is in the Town of Milton but will be moved to a lot that is outside town limits. Quass said the pecan tree at the corner of the intersection is slated to be removed, as it is in the way of planned improvements to the roadway.

The land behind the house is set to be the site of a Royal Farms gas station and convenience store. That project has been held up for some time for review of proposed traffic changes and improvements to the intersection of Route 16 and Union Street Extended.
