The Christmas season officially kicked off in Milton Nov. 25, when the town lit up its tree in Milton Memorial Park.
At about 6 p.m., Mayor John Collier gave the signal to light up the tree. Prior to the tree lighting, those who braved the cold were able to get free hot chocolate from Milton Lions Club and free chocolate chip cookies from Milton Community Foundation. Guitarist Al Frantic helped get the crowd in the mood for the tree lighting by playing a selection of Christmas songs.
