Milton looks familiar approximately 75 years ago

February 8, 2022

Major growth is knocking on the door in Milton, with town officials contemplating the annexation of The Granary at Draper Farm (1,350 units) and Scarlet Oaks (168 units), and the recent preliminary approval for a Milton Attainable Housing project (240 units). This aerial image showing a familiar-looking mid-century downtown Milton focuses on Union Street, Federal Street and Chestnut Street. The fire department stands tall on Front Street just a few years after its construction in 1949-50. Also jumping out of the photograph are the Milton Theatre and the row of storefronts on Federal Street just beyond its intersection with Union Street. Although many of the buildings are the same, things have definitely changed in Milton. As the saying goes, the only constant in life is change.
